Creativity

With the invention of technology, people are able to expand their creativity. We are able to achieve new things we never thought was possible. In "The New Math of Mashups," Sasha Frere-Jones discusses the impact of digital technology and music. Using digital software, artists are able to adjust the tempos of their music, add live drums and human beat-box noises, and sift through countless appellate vocals archived on several hard drives. People are able to listen to new genres of music invented through digital software. Mashup artists like Vidler, Kerr, and Brown have found new ways of bringing pop music to an audience they have never reached before. New media has the ability to foster creativity, and it will continue to do so as technology advances.

  1. I agree with you that new media will definitely foster creativity: With all the things we have right now (Facebook, snapchat, youtube) we've already seen the potential of creativity in forms of videos, memes, etc... I cannot wait for the next jump in creativity.
